How to Share Audio With Multiple AirPods
Sharing audio from one iPhone to multiple AirPods is very easy and can be done with any model of AirPods (Apple has a complete list of compatible headphones and devices). Just follow these steps:
Connect your AirPods to your iPhone (or iPad or iPod touch). Start playing audio. Tap the AirPlay icon (three circles with a triangle in it). The AirPlay icon is in Control Center, on the lock screen, or in the app where you’re playing the audio. Tap Share Audio. What happens in this step depends on what model headphones your friend has. For AirPods and AirPods Pro: Keep the AirPods in their case, open the case’s lid, and hold it close to your iPhone. On some models, you may need to press the pairing button on the case. Follow the onscreen instructions. For AirPods Max: Hold the AirPods close to your iPhone. For Beats headphones: Put the headphones in pairing mode and hold them close to your iPhone. When the second set of AirPods appears on the screen, tap Share Audio. The audio will begin playing in both sets of AirPods momentarily. The second set of AirPods appears in Control Center momentarily, and the audio will begin playing in those AirPods, too.
How Many AirPods Can You Share Audio With?
As of now—using iOS 15 and all generations of AirPods (including AirPods Max) and compatible Beats models—the maximum number of AirPods that can be connected to a compatible iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch is two.
